Privacy notice

What happens to the details you send me, in plain English. Last updated October 2026.

Who I am

ORB Electrical & Development is the trading name of Owen Brooke, a sole trader. I'm responsible for your personal data (the "data controller"). You can reach me at 8c Jackroyd Lane, Mirfield WF14 8HX, on 07772 384096 or at ORBDevelopments@mail.com.

What I collect

  • The quote form: your name, phone number, postcode, the type of job and the page you sent it from.
  • Calls, WhatsApp and email: whatever you choose to tell me, such as your address and details of the job.
  • Analytics, only if you say yes: how you found and used this site. See "Cookies and analytics" below.

Why I use it

To reply to you, arrange a visit, quote and do the work you've asked for. The legal basis is that you've asked me to take these steps before we agree a job, and then to carry out the job. I also keep job records because tax law requires it.

I don't sell your details, pass them on for marketing or add you to a mailing list.

Where it's kept and who sees it

Quote requests are sent through Netlify, the company that hosts this website, which emails them to me. They're kept in my email account. Only I see them. Netlify and my email provider store the data for me and don't use it for anything else.

How long I keep it

If an enquiry doesn't lead to any work, I delete it within 12 months. If I do work for you, I keep your details and the job records for six years, which covers my two-year guarantee and what HMRC requires.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and buttons people use, such as how many people tap Call. It runs only if you press Accept on the cookie banner. If you press Reject, or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_…, which last up to two years. Google keeps the data for 14 months. It's never used for advertising, and Google may process it outside the UK under its own safeguards. Your choice is remembered in your browser (not in a cookie), and you can change it at any time with here or the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.

The quote form never sends your name, phone number or postcode to Google.

Your rights

You can ask me for a copy of the details I hold about you, to correct them, or to delete them. You can also object to how I use them. Ring or email me and I'll deal with it within a month.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
